CHAMPAIGN, IL - January 23, 2026 - The Grove Church invites the Champaign-Urbana community to join weekly worship services every Sunday at 10:00 AM at The Venue CU, located at 51 East Main Street in downtown Champaign. Launched in September 2025, The Grove Church is a gospel-centered congregation focused on helping people meet Jesus, engage in life-giving community, and discover their God-given purpose.

"We believe in creating a space where people can have authentic encounters with Christ, discover their gifts, and use them for His glory," said Lead Pastor Josh Loomis. "Everyone is welcome at The Grove Church."

A Vision Born from Prayer

The Grove Church's story began in March 2022 when Josh and Kayla Loomis started praying about planting a new church in Champaign-Urbana. After connecting with other pastors in the area, they received confirmation that there was a need for more gospel-preaching churches in the community.

Following this calling, the Loomis family moved to Champaign in July 2023, where Josh began a two-year church planting residency at Christ Community Church in Champaign. Embedded within Christ Community CU from July 2023 until May 2025, the Loomis family and their core team prayed for a group of 40 adults to commit themselves to the multiplication of God's kingdom and gospel witness in Champaign-Urbana.

After two years of preparation and community building, The Grove Church launched public services on September 7, 2025, at The Venue CU. The inaugural series began with a study of the Gospel of Mark, with the dual aim of sharing the gospel with those who do not yet know Jesus and helping all attendees become more like Jesus.

Welcoming Worship Experience

Sunday services at The Grove Church typically last 75 minutes and feature a blend of contemporary and traditional worship music led by the church's worship team. Services are designed to be accessible and welcoming to both longtime believers and those exploring faith for the first time.

The church provides comprehensive childcare for children under five years old, along with age-appropriate lessons for elementary-age children in third grade and under. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually and come as they are. Complimentary coffee is provided, and the congregation is invited to stay after services for fellowship and connection.
