New York, NY February 02, 2026 --(PR.com)-- “A Poem Is a Song: Is a Psalm”: a spiritually rich and evocative collection that presents poetry as prayer, song, and sacred offering. “A Poem Is a Song: Is a Psalm” is the creation of published author, Séphora Ruth, who was born on the island of Hispaniola and experienced trauma early in life, including severe childhood illness and exposure to religious violence. After leaving her home country at a young age, she adapted quickly, developing a deep intellectual curiosity and love of literature. As a young adult, she endured a prolonged period of spiritual and psychological darkness, marked by displacement, separation from faith, and multiple hospitalizations, before ultimately completing her studies in 2022 through what she attributes to God’s grace.
Her memories of childhood are closely tied to church life, family, and early impressions of faith, violence, and longing for spiritual belonging. These formative experiences later intersected with her time in Puerto Rico, where solitude, suffering, and reflection gradually led her back to God. Following a violent encounter in 2023, she began writing as an act of healing and testimony. The resulting book, written over the course of a year, is presented as the culmination of her spiritual journey and personal restoration.
Séphora Ruth shares, ““The Story” is for time. “The Seasons” is for times. “The Song” is for the rain and divides the time.
The Seasons
Autumn:
In the nostalgia of autumn, as leaves flee, so also do they fly.
I speak of old behavior and the fallen, lustful heart. Passion, properly
defined as patient love, is the eye through which light enters.
Winter:
The briskness of winter blues is the longing for fire.
I speak of weather on the spectrum of religion, where the hearth is safe.
Spring:
Picture, then, the delicacy of pastel petals.
Christianity is the walk of a springing courtship. To walk alongside God
is to be with Him in the morning, in the evening, and all year round.
Summer:
Oh, for the summers that ripen the fruit!
The ultimate pen begs the order of God, then man, then woman. I write
as the woman who discovers the well near the vineyard in Eden. There
is a lemon tree there, coated with milk and honey, near the berry bush,
whose lovely aroma perfumes the air. I also see an olive tree. I have made
an essence of the aloes.
The Song
Within these notes are an offering similar to that of Magdalene’s.
To God be the glory. This book is for you.”
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Séphora Ruth’s new book offers readers a bold, unfiltered expression of faith that bridges poetry and theology, inviting the wounded, the seeking, and the faithful into a deeper encounter with God through verse.
